Now, don’t get me wrong, I love summer in the Midwest just as much as the next gal. I love riding bikes with my husband and hiking our local Indiana Dunes; but there is something refreshing about that first little drop in temperature. The kids are back to school, pools and boats have had their last call, and we are looking to the future. If you’re anything like me, you’re ready to get back into some sort of ROUTINE! While I love the spontaneity of summer, I thrive on having a set schedule for my workouts, my diet, my skincare and the various ways I maintain my health.
This season is also fun because it’s the most popular time for some of my favorite services like Chemical Peels, IPL, Laser Genesis and Laser Hair Reduction.
Peels are a great way for us to correct the sun damage acquired over the summer. Lasers work by a process called “Selective Photothermolysis.” (Fancy, right?) This means that lasers work by targeting the melanin (color) in hair to destroy the hair bulb (where the hair grows) while leaving the skin unharmed. When we are tan, the laser can get distracted by the melanin (color) on our skin rather than focusing on destroying the hair bulb.
Laser Hair Reduction requires a series (generally 5-8 sessions) so fall is the time to start permanently reducing your hair growth by spring!
