3 Benefits of Latisse for Luscious Lashes

Luscious lashes can be yours with the ‘Miracle Gro properties’ of Allergan’s Latisse. Latisse is a prescription medication for treating hypotrichosis, which is inadequate or thin eyelashes.  It is the only FDA approved prescription treatment. The 3 benefits of Latisse begin working within 6 to 8 weeks of prescribed use as lashes get thicker, darker, and longer.  Latisse works gradually, with full results at about 16 weeks.  You may be surprised to learn that Latisse was discovered while treating glaucoma patients with bimatoprost, the active ingredient in Latisse. After receiving bimatoprost eye drops, glaucoma patients were returning to their ophthalmologist with longer, thicker and darker lashes.  Allergan then developed the product into a safe, topical application that works very effectively for patients experiencing thin, light, and short eyelashes.

Latisse is incredibly easy to apply. Each box of Latisse at Glazer Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery includes the bottle and daily applicator brushes. With your daily commitment to application along the lash line, you’ll soon have longer, thicker, and darker lashes. If you stop using Latisse, your lashes with gradually return to their previous appearance. Although uncommon among our patients, possible side effects with Latisse include darkening of lid pigmentation, redness, and itching. These symptoms reverse after Latisse use is discontinued.

After you have used Latisse for about 6 months, you can cut back on applications since you’re in a “maintenance phase.” It is still important to apply Latisse 3 to 4 times per week. It’s not a problem if you miss a day occasionally, but if you stop using Latisse altogether, eventually your lashes will go back to what they used to be. Don’t forget to remove all your eye make-up before you go to bed. Mascara, particularly waterproof, can dry out lashes and make them more brittle and prone to breakage.
